The INFO:
Public
policy is about making decisions. These
decisions are by no mean easy because values, ideologies and politics are
involved. Under these trying
circumstances, public policy analysts and policy makers are required to make
decisions. For instance, policy decision
has to be made on whether to terminate the Internal Security Act (ISA), to
abolish the Universities & University Colleges Act (AUKU), to enact a new
legislation on polluters pay for polluting the environment and to introduce the
1Malaysia health care plan. When these
decisions are made, they are being made in a socially changing and politically
loaded environments.
PURPOSE
The purpose of this individual assignment is to
gauge a student’s overall understanding on the concepts and approaches to
public policy analysis and to expose students to the methods of policy analysis
based on a current issue or problem
REQUIREMENTS
The assignment should cover the
following two scopes:
Scope
1:
Critically discuss
the different approaches to public policy analysis
Scope
2:
Using
one of the issue or problem mentioned above, or identifying one current public
policy issue of your own choice, describe how this particular issue can be
analyzed using one of the approaches as discussed in Scope 1.
